of Estonia and strengthen the ties between the Republic of Estonia, Estonians in Estonia, and Estonians living abroad.

About us

The Estonian World Council is a non-profit organization established in 1954 to unite Estonians abroad.

Today EWC holds annual meetings that rotate among North America, Europe, and Estonia. In May 2018 in Tallinn, it passed resolutions, among other items with proposals to strengthen ties with the Estonian government and Estonians abroad. EWC members are working to achieve these goals.

History

The Estonian World Council (EWC) was established in 1954 in the United States to unite Estonian communities abroad and help international coordination for Estonia’s re-independence. Three large central organizations – Estonian American National Council, Estonian Central Council in Canada, Association of Estonians in Sweden – were founding members of EWC.
